Just curious if this is even possible. I have a Hauppage XBox One TV tuner connected to OTA. Is it possible to hook this up to a Mi Box (or are there any Android TV devices that support this) via USB and use it for broadcast channels?

It's possible through HDhomerun right now but not till 7.0 comes out for the mibox unfortunately. The only devices that do is Nexus player.
About a month after i sold my nexus player people started developing an AndroidTV client app for TVHeadend
My Synology Nas has a PCTV Picostick (74e) and Tvheadend server installed from the official TvHeadend repo
HDHomeRun + InstaTV
I have an ATSC tuner that works well with my Mibox. Good reception of all local channels in my area and a good collection of nearby USA channels. (Toronto). Software is adequate but could be improved. Bought from Ebay and using for 5 weeks, no issues.
Google has included support for your specific tuner (the Hauppage XBox One TV tuner) along with a couple other ATSC OTA tuners in Android TV 7.0. Right now, the only device running 7.0 is the Nexus Player, but when the Mi Box gets updated to 7.0, your tuner should work with it, so hold onto it.
Xiaomi hasn't said anything about when to expect an update to Android TV 7.0 but I expect that it is coming because Xiaomi is marketing the Mi Box as capable of displaying HDR video after a future software upgrade and given that 7.0 provides native support for HDR, it would seem like that's the "software upgrade" that Xiaomi is referencing.
