Where do you get your sideloaded apks and how can you be sure they are for aTV?

by abadguy87

I noticed that some apps come in a specific Android TV version, for example some will be com.xx.android and com.xx.atv : where do you download your apks from and is there a site that lets you select the specific platform you want to download your app for? I wanna be sure I'm downloading the corresponding app like I would taking it from the play store through my Sony TV. Thank you.

p.s. by the way can android apps recognize and automatically "adapt" depending on what device you are installing them?

Apkmirror.com checks if the signature of the app is the same as in the play store. So it's quite safe.

I don't know if you can select the platform.

For the most part apps should be adaptive. Adapting to a TV screen and controls similar to how it adapts to a phone or tablet screen size. They should compile at install-time

i just go to play.google.com on my computer and install apps that way. i seem to be able to install almost all apps without the bother of doing any actual sideloading on my LeEco TV
