Same issue here. I hate autoplay, especially since on Android TV the next video starts immediately after the one you were actually looking at finishes, and there's no way to stop the next video from starting.
I sat on my shield remote this weekend and apparently that set it to autoplay hundreds of super mario videos to the tune of about 300gb's.
So for the third time I'll be unplugging my shield tv and going back to the fire tv box.
Stupid that the app hasn't been updated, you can't turn off autoplay which as far as I know nobody wants, and you can't uninstall the app, which I never use.
unfortunately no, google don't care at all about YouTube for Android TV for some reason, it was updated only one time this year back in like april
