I just received the international version of the mi box straight from China via Aliexpress. The device storage via the android settings only shows total space of 5.2GB. Thats almost 3gb short than what is advertised. How about you guys? Share your numbers here.
They only advertise the physical size of the storage, not the usable part. That goes with any device you ever buy. Part of it is reserved for the OS and pre-installed apps. I know it sucks in this case as the storage is so small in the first place. But yeah mine was 5.2 also. Although I currently only have about 1GB left.
I have used and set up other android boxes (not Android TV) the OS never took more than 1gb of storage. But then again, I never tried running Marshmallow OS before this though.
Have to put the system operating system somewhere.
If you want the full 8 GB then you can have them. Don't expect the thing to boot lol
