Anyone ever solve the Netflix Issue with the Mi Box?

by selpat

I picked one up yesterday and it seems like a great little box but I'm having issues getting Netflix to play. The video will play for about 15-16 seconds and then stop with the error "We're having trouble playing this title right now. Please try again later or select a different title".

I've looked at similar threads where others have had issues and tried many of the suggested solutions but nothing has worked yet. So far I've tried:

  • Rebooting the Mi Box
  • Resetting the Mi Box
  • Updating the Mi Box
  • Resetting after updating
  • Re-installing Netflix
  • Logging out and logging back in to Netflix

The one thing I haven't tried yet is side-loading Netflix but I'll give that a shot. Has anyone found an actual fix for this issue?

It was not a MiBox issue, it was a Netflix issue. HD wasn't playing because everyone and their new devices were connecting and playing Netflix and slammed their system.

You should be fine to play stuff today.

I ended up fixing my issue with the Netflix app by factory resetting the whole box. It was a different issue though... I wasn't able to get into the app at all without getting an error message.

I'm having this issue too and I emailed Xiamoi support. They said to do this: settings >> preference>>HDMI self adaption >> on

This didn't work for me. I even tried reinstalling and resetting the device. I replied back to the email and hopefully they have a fix. This is getting ridiculous.

This is definitely an issue with the Netflix App for Android TV, not the device itself. I am also still experiencing this; even a factory reset didn't provide a long term fix.

I am stuck Chromecasting Netflix until this app gives me back the LeanBack UI experience I prefer.

Hmmmm...Netflix is playing just fine for me.

About a week ago I was getting this message when trying to play uhd content, but everything else played fine. Rebooted the mibox and it all started working again. Good luck

I've had my mi box for about a month or so now. Never had Netflix do that to me.

Mine doesn't play 4k although I pay for the service and I have it connected directly to my TV. I also have my resolution set up to 4k 60hz on my mi box under display settings. It did work just fine for the first week i owned my mi box. I just gave up on the Netflix app on my mibox and will just use the Netflix that is native to my TV. It is a 2014 model Sony 4k TV.

I've been having this same issue.

I contacted netflix and their advice was to contact Xiaomi for a fix. I got the Mi Box 3 last week and haven't had any luck with Netflix yet. I'll try again based on some of the comments here though.

I'm sure there will be a release along the way to fix it, but it's frustrating for the time being.

Unfortunately I bought the unit whilst I was in Hong Kong, otherwise I'd exchange it for another unit based on some of the comments I've seen.

I just bought an Element 4K smart tv with the Netflix app. I can stream 4K shows without any issues consistently with it wirelessly. The same wireless network the Mi Box is on. Bottom Line, this isn't a Netflix or network issue, it's a Mi Box issue. Little confidence they will update their firmware and software to fix it. Advice to all...take yours back or do not buy! It's a worthless POS.

I just got new System Updated on Mi Box just an hour ago. Build mhc19j 669 and security patch level October 2016.

It stated that "Update contains DRM patch with Netflix and CTS security patch."

I am not a netflix user but I think this update should fix it, I guess :/

Stumbled across a escalation and the forgot it for a day. Change the resolution! Set display on Mi Box to auto. Defaults ton 1080p. I have installed numerous versions including Mi play store and they all work

I can cast from my Chrome browser but not my iPhone. Mi Box email support just told me to return it again. I'm thinking about a Roku now but I read it doesn't have Kodi?

Having this issue, has anyone figured this out?
