Plenty of regular Android apps can work decently with Android TV, especially with a cheap wireless mouse/keyboard, like one of these on Amazon and on ebay .
The easiest way is, on your laptop/desktop, to download a bunch of APKs that you might like from APKPure and APKMirror. Then transfer them by USB drive to your Mi Box and install. (You'll need to change the setting to allow outside APKs to be installed.)
Then see if they're workable on the Android TV.
