I can't get it to work at all. I can transfer some apps one by one but they never free up disk space.
I used a thumb drive as external storage with my Mi box this weekend and it worked fine, but I wasn't trying to install apps to it - i just had some movies stored on it to watch with Kodi. When i booted it up it said it recognized the USB device and I just hit back (not adopted storage or anything). If you want to install apps on it you may need to use something like Link2SD, which moves the app to the SD card and then makes a symbolic link in the original storage space so the app still works etc.
Did you ever get this working?
If you formatted it as internal storage, it is now one big drive. It won't transfer files back and forth to itself.
