Is it just me or is the mibox a piece of shit with plex? I'm having major issues with it playing audio fine with video on fast forward. Happens on different severs including plex cloud and different videos from remuxes to reencoded mkvs.

I just have issues when playing large movies. Like over 6 GB. It will sometimes freeze up when a lot of stuff is on the screen at once.
like for example watching Frozen. I have a version that's 9 GB in size. My kids watch it all the time so I wanted a good version of it. Well when the ice queen lady runs away from the castle and makes her own castle and busts out in her big song.. there's a lot of stuff moving around on the screen at once and my Mi Box always freezes up right then.
Have you tried accessing your Plex server from the VLC app? For whatever reason, I have better results. The Plex app won't play any videos with DTS sound, but through VLC it does with no issues at all.
seems to be hit or miss, mine works great with all my plex files, except ac3 files.....so got rid of the 19 movies with ac3 I had and works great.
I have had absolutely zero audio issues with mine. Just hooked up to the TV with hdmi and running Plex Server 1.1.4
I've had nothing but good experiences with Plex on Mi Box. TBH, I haven't been home in a couple week, so it's possible an update messed it up.
I wonder if the plex add on through Kodi for those who have PlexPass is any better? I returned my Mi Box so I can't test it out.

If I play a video through Plex app on my mibox , I get static noise constantly. I noticed on a different Plex client if I forced Dolby Digital to my TV the same noise would happen.
But what's funny is if I use my Android phone Plex app to cast the exact same video to my same mibox, the sound works fine. Somehow casting to the mibox makes the audio work but playing directly through the Plex app doesn't. It's like the Plex app is forcing a sound codec that my mibox doesn't support but chromecasting it to the mibox plays working audio.
yeah plex is a piece of shit with this unit. playing certain video files causes the playback speed to be 2x and the audio gets out of sync.
Tbh, it's a piece of shit with Plex. It's about to go in a box, picked up a used Nexus Player to put in its place.
