is hdhomerun beta getting worse?

by battierpeeler

i was enjoying the beta with no problems but i think 3 updates ago, something changed and i expected the next update to fix it but none of the updates since have fixed it. it displays like there is a bad signal but only on my mibox (artifacts/glitching/skipping). homerun software and signal works flawlessly on my computer still.

i'd roll it back but apkmirror's last one is from july. which i guess is better than nothing. anyone else experiencing a reduction in quality lately?

I rolled back the the green view app that works much better than the beta

after the last firmware update for my extend.. i'm seeing no more crashing of the box. used to see it at least once a week to where I had to pull the power on the box, wait 5 seconds, then plug it back in to reset it. Haven't had to do that since the update which is going on three weeks now.

DVR on plex is going well also. my wife demands her Ellen be recorded every weekday and so far it's been recording fine in high quality. 4 GB files on my hard drive.

Has SD given any indication when we should expect something stable? Comcast is moving to MPEG4 in my area soon and my Intel NYC HTPC has a known bug with DRM channels that will effectively make WMC unusable for me. I want to switch to shield TV with hdhr dvr but have heard its practically unusable for DVR functionality.

Yea, I gave up on it. Waste of $60. Overall, really bad, inconsisten, unstable experience. Since it's a beta, there's a fair amount of this to be expected, but HDHomerun sort of exceeded my tolerance level. I went to the Tivo Bolt and Tivo Minis - really great experience. I don't like that I have a drawer full of unused N'Vidia Shields now - might be time to sell them. Love the Shield....

Working great for me. Running on Windows 10 and have Xbox One and two Mi Boxes for clients.

To be fair, it is a beta. You should expect occasional issues with updates.
