Disable Philips Android TV Collection feed, also known as Philips Apps at top of Android TV launcher & recommendations field

by Kalinskym

Guys! To disable Philips Collections bar or also known as Philips Apps Tray at top of Android TV leanback launcher. All you have to do is find leanbackcustomizer in System Apps or Running Apps and turn off its notifications which can be turned off at button of the menu when you click on the service.

I couldn't find a single source which mentioned these steps to take to disable Philips bloatware. I figured these out on own. I am not aware of any other methods that has the same results.

Enjoy your less of a pain Android TV by Philips

Also To disable recommendations, disable org.droidtv.nett_launcherapp in system apps or running apps. Hope this also helps debloat your Philips Android TV to a manageable level. However, this doesn't get rid of the recommendations field only apps that shows up.

Thank you, I had tried to disable it somehow but never really found out which app was responsible for it. Philips TVs don't get too much love around here but this actually solves one of only a few issues for me.

Thank you! I just read the same / your post on XDA forum.

I'm now finally closer to great device!

Now just to enable native daydream support, and fully working Kodi. because, my Kodi doesn't remember favorites in main menu, and it's somehow glitchy after watching few movies / shows.

Does someone now how can i restart the device? Or kill or running apps with one click?

I'm able to run daydream but need to start it manually via sideloaded app.

What are some other tweaks you guys have done on your Philips Android TVs

Thanks for this! I tried to force stop the thing, but that didn't help. Who thought it would be as simple as disabling notifications :)

Disabling org.droidtv.nett_launcherapp broke iplayer so I had to re-enable it.

One surprising thing on this TV is looking at the system apps - it includes things like Twitter and Facebook.

It's much better without the phillips recommendations. It's also worth uninstalling the games from that bar if you don't use them. Another is that it only comes with 4GB of storage, which seems to fill up very quickly.
