Looking for an alternative to the Nexus Player.

I'm tired of my controller not pairing and having to constantly reconnect it. I like the Android TV. We use it for Netflix, Hulu, Emby, Youtube, and Kodi.

Is the Mi Box the best thing out there now? What are some suggestions for a replacement?

Mi Box is the defacto "affordable" replacement to the Nexus Player.

The "best thing out" has been the NVIDIA Shield TV for about the past 18 months now. Just have to find a place to buy it that's not sold out.

The problem may not be with the Nexus Player. I had same problem with mine. I did some research and found out that there was lot of interference in my house for 2.4 GHz band. Bluetooth also uses 2.4ghz band. I disabled 2.4ghz on my wifi router and I don't have any pairing issues anymore.

Give it a try.

Have you tried other controllers or is it the Nexus Player itself the problem? There's no voice search with it but I've seen other people have paired the old Fire Stick remote (bluetooth) with the Nexus Player. https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Remote-Amazon-Fire-Stick/dp/B00LORGAG6/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

I had the Nexus Player, now I have the Mi Box. It is much better. And affordable. If you don't play games on your media player, that's your pick. If you do play games, fork over the extra dough for the Shield.
