Amazon Prime Video in Canada on Nexus Player

by daveeee

I have not been able to find a guide/how-to to get this working with today's announcement on prime video available in Canada.... Tried Amazon prime launcher which installed prime video APK, which then threw an error about not in an available region when logging in.

Anyone have any success?

Why even bother?

The lack of device support is a joke.

Fire TV stick? Still not officially for sale in Canada, despite Amazon prime launching this week. That's right, they artificially hold back what devices can run Amazon , yet do not sell their own playback devices here. What a joke.

Unless you hook up a PC to a TV or are lucky enough to have a TV with Amazon support.... You're out of luck.

Wake me when Amazon gets their heads out of their asses and corrects this situation

Ya it's a shame you can't just easily install the app in the Nexus Player.

My main box is the Nvidia Shield, and I am using the Sony android TV APK for Amazon Video and it works great on the Shield.
However my other TV that still gets used every day, has a Nexus Player and I can't get it Amazon Video to work properly on it.

So I've gotten a little further with the Sony Android TV APK, where I can log in, it shows videos, but when I start to play it gets stuck with a "sorry not available" message.

It will never work by the way on the nexus.

The Amazon apk uses arm binaries but the nexus player is x86.

If you want to sideload the apk you need an arm based player such as the nvidia shield.

You can only watch Amazon Originals currently in Canada.
