ES File Explorer and this icon on the far right of my TV

by Nutzzer

So I installed ES File Explorer last night, configuring PIA vpn and misc Kodi stuff last night. Middle of doing my configurations, I noticed a small circular tab icon in the middle of the far right screen of my TV. I looked further and it was a small circle with a scary face in the middle like the girl from the RING. I freaked the fuck out, rebooted, and it went away. Still felt uneasy, thinking I got hacked or something with all the tweaks I been doing with OpenVPN/PIA and Kodi, I decided to F* this and restore clean install.
After the reboot, started reinstalling everything...ES file explorer included. And this time, I see the same circular tab, but with a doc icon in the circle. I was so confused thinking it was Kodi, since prior, I was testing with SMPC and didn't see, it, I uninstalled Kodi and it was still there. Next I uninstall ES File explorer and it went away. SOOOOO pised it was ES file Explorer. WTF is that icon?? It was a long night of installing, configuring and reinstalling again.

ES is no good man. Basically turning into malware injecting ads etc. I'd say find something else. Not sure what on Android TV though sorry..

ES File Explorer is basically malware at this point. Don't use it.

Use Xplore instead of ES. Or Total Commander which has been recommended before too

Literally all you had to do was disable the floating icon in the es explorer settings lol

I've started using #sideloadtag to install "extra" apks.

It's in the ES settings to turn it off. It'd supposed to be a recent app thing I think? I don't remember but you can shut it off.

I tried Xplore after reading ES File Explorer being touted as a malware but I still like the clean interface of ES. I hope the developers return to their roots.

I like es. But the recent update with full page ads popping up all the time made me uninstall it. So I downloaded the pro version from AC market and I'm loving it all over again.
