Both Sony & Engadget aren't too specific about what updates are needed for this to work. I tried this morning on my Sony TV to no avail.
For those wondering about the update, some info.
My mom has home and just got a Vizio E Series TV with Chromecast on Thanksgiving. Home could not add the TV at the time. Google cast receiver version at the time was 1.19xxxx
This week I checked and Vizio could be added to home. Google cast receiver version is 1.21xxxxx
(Xxxxx are the end numbers I don't remember)
odd. my sony HT-NT5 has always worked like this with no problems.
Google Home voice commands, for YouTube videos as well as Google Play Music , are working fine on my 2016 Sony Bravia (simply named "TV.") But the same for Netflix video and Spotify music, gets me a " Sorry, something went wrong. When you're ready, give it another try " response, every time.
I know the note on Google's support pages say that this isn't supported yet , but these articles from earlier this month specifically say that it is, for Android TV (which my Sony Bravia is running.)

Anyone have any luck getting their Google Home to cast Netflix content (via voice command) to their Android TV?
Game changer right there. Is it limited to Netflix and Google? Or will it work among any app? For example "OK Google, play Westworld from HBO Now on the TV" or, "OK Google, play Atlanta from FX Now on the TV".
Better yet, "OK Google, play NBCSN from PlayStation Vue on the TV".
If the above is possible, that's my Echo and Echo Dot tossed in the trash.
Does this apply to nvidia shields?
