Mi Box and Netflix hate each other...

by Jerasadar

Just got my Mi Box from Walmart. Everything on it works and works quite well... Except for Netflix. After starting a movie it will play for 2-20 seconds then error out with code tvq-pm-100. I've updated all apps, updated firmware, reinstalled Netflix, adjusted HD settings, etc, etc, etc.... Nothing makes it work. My network is not the problem and Netflix works well on every other device I own. I side loaded the Netflix Android app and it works but is not ideal. I talked to Netflix and they said their engineers are working on the problem. Has anyone found a solution yet?

Have two Mi Box and have never seen this error.

Title should be "My Mi box and Netflix hate each other"

I'm having his problem and so are many other on this sub. Just search 'mi box' and 'netflix'. I'm on my third box and still have this issue. I've been using kodi so it isn't a huge deal but it's really frustrating

I've never noticed any issues and I just watched "the OA" over the weekend on my mibox

Take it back to Walmart and get a new one. There is no solution. Test it instore.

I contacted Xiaomi, they told me to talk to Netflix.

Here is the Netflix Support response: "Yami So, I was checking with my team and they confirmed this is actually related to a new update Xioami released for the device you are using right now. It seems there was a new update released which hasn't gone through your device just yet and hence this error appearing. No worries though, it will be a matter of checking for updates so in case you see them available you can perform them with the device, if you don't see any update available it would just be a matter of contacting the manufacturer so they con properly help check for these updates."

FYI, I am running build 540

Back to contacting Xiaomi again...

I've never had this problem either. Occasionally mine will keep giving me this video could not be played messages, but a quick reset of the device fixes it.

magmapus

It's a known issue. I'm having the exact same issue, and had the same response from Netflix: it's an issue on their end that they're aware of and working on.

Irv_g11

I'm currently having this problem.

Edit- so I changed the resolution to 4k2k 24hz now it works

People need to stop thinking that this varies from device to device. It is a Netflix software issue. That is all. All Mi Boxes will experience it at some point until Netflix fixes their app.

Other Android TV platforms (Sony TV, etc) are reporting similar issues. Continue to call support and log tickets so they have to fix it.

nath999

I'm currently having the exact same issue. My last effort today will be to try it with a new TV and HDMI cable to see if it works.

I'm using the box is Canada, just wondering if anyone getting this error is also outside of the USA.

StrangledSyntax

I had the issue "We are having trouble playing this title right now" on a brand new unit. No matter what I tried to play, it would start and then two seconds in it would stop with that message. It drive me nuts, so I ended up returning the box for a refund.

I have this problem with mine from Walmart. Mine was working fine until that last Netflix app update and then it borked mine. Not sure if anyone else had the same issue.

I've tried everything, resolution, uninstall, factory reset, signing out of all devices. HDMI adaptation, deep color changes, HDR on off. Nothing works.

edit: similar to below, just switched from 4k2k60hz to 4k2k24hz and it seems to be okay now. I

I have the same issue and it drives me #@$@#@ crazy. I have never been able to watch a full show on netflix.

Bodycount9

Did you do a factory reset after the firmware upgrade?

My netflix is working perfectly on both of my Mi Box's. Had to reset it first before they worked though.

sunnya97

Having the same issue.

Anon4573

Has anyone found a solution? My box exhibits the same issue, I have tried various wifi settings, I tried downgrading the Netflix app a few versions. Nothing has worked.

mishaxz

is it in stock at Walmart stores? I can't seem to find it online @ Walmart.com anymore - maybe I'm just spelling it wrongly

Got a mi box from aliexpress, configured and Netflix was not working. Did a factory reset, installed netflix and now everything is working.

Anon4573

Today my Mi Box received build 699 which referenced Netflix in the description. However, it still doesn't work.

Anon4573

I contacted Netflix again, they say that this is a Xiaomi issue. Please contact Xiaomi and complain at service.us@xiaomi.com

"Netflix Paul Hey, just checked with my team and it seems the new firmware update by Xiaomi didn't fix this bug. Thanks for letting us know about it, be sure they're still working on this to get this fixed as fast as possible. If there's anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

You so we have to wait for Xiaomi to fix this?

Netflix Paul This is correct, as it's something to do with their firmware version."

Fyi I was having this problem then messed with the settings. I turned off HDR and suddenly it works. Not sure if that's why but I don't care. Got rid of it for now!
