Nvidia Shield TV controller select button issue

by Emx333

I've been playing Mad Max recently and when I press the "select/back" button it doesn't register about 75% of the time. Some times it works with no issues, while other times it takes almost a minute of trying to press the button for it to register.

I had this issue with Boarderlands the pre-sequel, but thought it maybe was the game. Is this a known issue or faulty controller? Is there a way in Geforce Now to remap the "select/back" command to a different button? even if I have to use a mouse of keyboard, I wouldn't mind as a band-aid of shorts. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, this is a wide reaching defect. You'll notice the new controllers just coming out seem to use hardware buttons instead.

There are some tricks. It will work most often if the controller is plugged into a charge cable. And more often the higher the battery level of the controller is.

I just went on Amazon and got a cheap bluetooth controller and replaced it outright.

I think it's a defect in the controller. I got two controllers with my Shield, and one of them has the same problem while the other does not. I haven't had the chance to contact support yet, though.

RMAed two controllers for this and never was solved. Really annoying.

Contact support and they'll send you a new one after ten minutes of troubleshooting. My new one doesnt have this problem but yeah I gather it's pretty common
