Mi-box internet log on problems

by chezboy

I bought my mi-box to bring to work and use in camp. My problem is that our camp internet uses that hotel type internet log on where you have to go to a webpage to accept the terms of useage. I cannot figure out how to do this on the mi box. There are no web browsers incan bring up or log on screen that pop up to help me log on. If someone could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

You have 2 options.

  1. get your IT people to add an exception for your Mi Box's Mac address to bypass this page. This is your best option.

Or

  1. Sideload a browser at home, take it back, and use that to accept the terms. The problem with this one is, these systems always have a time out on them. Typically 24 hours or so. So you're going to have to accept the terms on tour Mi Box every day. It will probably get a bit tedious.

are you able to sideload the firefox or chrome browser?

I occasionally travel with my Mi Box and use it in hotels. I have had this same issue, and the Chrome browser that I sideloaded doesn't always work with the remote for some reason.

I got around this by cloning the MAC address of my Mi Box and defining it as the MAC address for my wireless interface on my laptop. I then use the laptop to login and agree to the terms/conditions. Once you agree, boot up the Mi Box and it should work. You will need to restore the laptop original MAC address or leave it off so that the two devices don't conflict.

Instal Chrome from the Play Store on the web to your MiBox. Then on you Mi, settings, apps, Chrome, open

Captive portal should display correctly on Android TV. I'm not sure why you're seeing an issue.

another solution - get a $15 hoo too tripmate nano travel router and log in with it. connect the mi to the nano and presto. the nano can also allow multiple devices where the hotel places limits
