Mi Box with an Android TV Box remote.

by Ausernameneeded

I just picked up a Mi Box and am currently looking for a better remote with a few more buttons. Its tough to find one that is Bluetooth and IR, but plenty that are 2.4Ghz dongle ones with IR.

Question is they are all for Android TV Box. Amazon taught me that there is a big difference between those and real Android TV. Will those remotes still function on the Mi Box?

Also, any suggestions? The ideal is Bluetooth with maybe 4 custom IR buttons (Power, Input, possibly tv volume). Soft buttons, backlit buttons, a little weight to it, FF/RW, skip, play, and pause buttons, and no keyboard and mouse stuff. And sold at major stores/online stores... not a no name place.

I don't want an app (never ever), I don't want IR only, and I don't want to pay more than $50 (so no bluetooth harmony remote), and I am 50/50 on just using a bluetooth Amazon FireTV remote)

I'm looking at these:

Yesea MXIII Double Sided Mouse Remote Control 2.4ghz Mini Wireless Air Mouse+Qwert Keyboard with Voice Switch and Infrared for Kodi TV Box IPTV HTPC Mini PC Windows Mac OS Lilux

LYNEC C2 2.4G 6-Axis Mini Wireless Keyboard Mouse Remote with Infrared Remote Learning Air Control

Leegoal(TM) MX3 Multifunctional 2.4G Portable Mini Wireless Qwerty Keyboard Mouse Infrared Portable Remote Control for for Android Smart TV Box IPTV HTPC PC Windows IOS MAC Linux PS3 Xbox

None are ideal, but they are close enough and cheap enough.

I just posted on how I am using Harmony , Alexa, and AndroidTV. So I am launching apps with Alexa and Harmony. No remote needed but if I do need a remote I have my phone or the Harmony remote.

Can confirm Yesea remote will not have full function on mi box. I plugged mine in and the mouse pointer shows up but you can't select anything with it. The keyboard did work though.

Any of the remotes that say they are compatible with Android should work. The Lync in your link above has my favorite keyboard, and unlike OSMC the back button works correctly on the Mi Box. I would recommend this over the one you linked (same remote diffrent branding) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JFXU0PW/ref=twister_B01JFXTSCI?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 The blue on black alt keys are impossible to read in anything but daylight. I don't know why more of them don't use bluetooth, but you can always get a USB hub (not sure if compatible)
