ShieldTV remote issue, and how I found the fix for it (link to NVIDIA forum)

I wanted to spread this post by ImGreenman on their official forum because I was amazed it worked and thought it might help someone else. I was on my last nerve, since it was exactly a year to the day since I bought my ShieldTV and remote, I figured my only recourse would have been to ask my credit card to get involved so I could get a replacement.

Quoting here for those who don't want to click:

I had this issue and the mic light was flashing, but still no connection.

1. goto apps and clear the data and cache for Bluetooth Share.

2. Shutdown Nvidia and Unplug

3. Hold Back and Home on the remote for 40 seconds to reset it.

4. Plugin Nvidia power and restart, you should now be able to connect your remote again.

This manifested a few days ago where the remote would no longer put audio through the headphones but otherwise worked. I "forgot" the remote in the accessory app to try and fix this, but it wouldn't re-connect even though the remote was seen with its own MAC address in the Bluetooth pairing settings area.

Now it's working again, and I hope might even be performing better than before, but time will tell.

Dude, this is fantastic. I don't necessarily need the fix (knock on wood), but I wish there were more posts like yours on Reddit and around the web. I'm gonna be honest here and say that I kinda might even have a crush on you now.

Thanks, I needed this fix. Remote just randomly stopped working and repairing didn't do shit. Your fix worked.

I feel asleep on my shield remote and it bent on the volume panel, so it shoots up and down whenever it wants. I dropped my controller 2 feet and something broke on the inside and rattles. Both of these happened within a week of buying it and Nvidia told me to fuck off. Amazon ended up swapping out for me. The shield is amazing, but the accessories stink.
