The NVIDIA CES Keynote is today at 1830 PST - What are you hoping for?

by Andrroid

So we have seen lots of rumors/leaks/speculation leading up to today. What are you hoping comes out of the keynote, related to Android TV?

PapaNixon

Cheaper priced shield, hopefully compliant to the upcoming HDMI 2.1 standard. Looking to buy my first Android TV device, and it's looking like it'll be the new Shield TV.

Edit: I'd also love a model with only the remote, not the controller.

CuvisTheConqueror

I'd love to see the Shield updated to Android 7.0, but that's hardly a "big announcement" they'd be unveiling at CES.

Maybe getting Amazon Video (officially) on the system?

Demons-With-Ryu

A new Shield TV would be cool, but I'm really hoping they announce a new tablet powered by their X1 chip.

A Shield TV that's got enough going for it that it makes me want to upgrade from my current model. Then I can gift my old one to my parents. (they're currently using a Chromecast as the "smartest" device plugged into the TV)

NashGuy73

New Nvidia Shield TV with Android TV 7.0, Dolby Vision, less expensive model with bundled TV remote, and systemwide support across apps for auto framerate switching including 24p.

nooneisreal

Well we already know there will definitely be news about the Shield, so hopefully they announce the new Shield TV, along with a new (lower) price tag.

I'd like to see a cheaper price as well as some advancements that make it more practical to use it as my Plex server. Currently it's too limited to replace my existing Plex server.

Like everyone else I'd like to see a new shield, I ended up buying 2 Mi Boxes and it honestly hasn't cut it as a cable replacement with HDHomerun, it has too many dropped frames and problems where I've heard the old shield has been flawless; I couldn't justify spending that much on a box that is about to be deprecated. Hopefully a shield that just has a remote instead of the gamepad too since I'm probably not going to do a lot of gaming on it

TBH, the original ShieldTV (my current box) is pretty solid all around. It's only drawback is you can't find them anymore. So if they just bring it back at a lower price point (bought my in September, but I won't be mad) or have an updated version, I'm happy either way.

I like Nintendo, but I don't like hearing delays to Android devices because of the Switch. Do both please.

Hoping for Dolby Vision support

Probably a cheaper shield TV with the same specs like they did with the tablet after one year.

arrowrand

I'd like a Shield TV SKU without the controller. I have two Mi Boxes because I didn't want to spend ,$200 for Shield TVs for my lesser used locations.

Give me the console and remote in the $129 to $149 range, even if the hardware is the same two year old hardware and I'll order two today.

If they have a surprise $99 (even with lowered specs) device that is flying under the radar I'll be over the moon. Even if they cut the specs to lower the price this is still NVIDIA, it'll be the best $99 streamer available anywhere.

FredNation

That's 6:30PM, 9:30PM EST correct?

Joke answer: Nvidia brings AndroidTV and media integration to the Tesla touch screen, so members at /r/teslamotors can stop complaining about the existing media player they are still stuck with :-)

If it is like last year, Jen-Hsun will spend two hours talking about autonomous vehicles and I will eat it all up. Hopefully its only partially like last year and they also talk about those Shield TV leaks from a few weeks back.

Also Hopefully it's not like that one year when he was demoing HDR photos on stage and being awkward as hell.

fervidfly

begging for a below 100 Shield with 4k support, a usb port and a remote. Don't need games

Semi-related: why didn't the original shield TV ever drop in MSRP?

Bigsam411

Holy Fuck Google Assistant on the SHield!!!!!
