Nope, other than it is coming. A lot of companies give no ETA for any updates unfortunately.

Is there some specific feature you need in Nougat?
Maybe updating the OS to Nougat will give Xiaomi an excuse to take another pass at some issues with video playback performance.
Namely, 1080p 60fps video in youtube, which can't play for more than 10 seconds without brief pauses. And that's definitely not a network issue either, as you can build up 30 seconds of buffer and it will still happen.
It often happens in Youtube playing 4K 30fps too.
I would be happy if my netflix worked on my stupid Mi Box.

I'm getting a 4k TV, and a Xiaomi Mi Box next week. I know all the reviews say it performs horribly for 4k, but I'm really hoping a software update can help that.
I just can't spring for a Shield at the moment, and a Chromecast doesn't come with a dedicated remote. At least I can try the Mi box out for a bit, and return it to Walmart if it's absolute crap. Who knows, maybe I'm fine just running it at 1080p.
nexus player has had Nougat for a while now. Can't wait until Mibox gets it in hopes that it won't shut itself off and not come back on like my nexus player. Getting tired of pulling out my rack to unplug/replug the stupid thing. Would use the Mibox now except it restarts songs randomly in google play music app.

End of this month will be Chinese New Year. Major festival for the Chinese, I doubt they will release a patch close to it because if any screw up happens, their staff holiday plans might be screwed up. Perhaps mid Feb onwards? They usually celebrate the festival for 14 days. A lot of their recent xiaomi phones received the Nougat update
