Bluetooth remotes with voice control

by irishtexmex

Both the new (Sling) AirTV and the new Nvidia Shield remotes feature a combination of a few things I haven't seen so far:

  1. Bluetooth (compatible with anything that uses BT, in theory)
  2. TV/Receiver/Soundbar control (via IR blaster)
  3. Voice control

AFAIK, it's been a "Pick 2 out of 3"-type of scenario up until now. Giving up voice control is the main reason I haven't switched from my OG Shield remote to a Logitech Harmony.

One of the things that excites me is being able to buy a remote that fits a particular use case. For example, I'll be perfectly happy with the new Shield TV remote. But I know my sister & her family would appreciate the transport controls on the AirTV remote -- which is a big reason I was considering recommending that to them over a Shield. But a Shield TV + AirTV remote might make the perfect marriage. Or, hell, the new FireTV remote might even work too!

Anyway, this One input- AND one remote- to rule them all business has me really excited. :)

I can agree with you there.
