According to this the Shield can't. I want to get a Shield but it pretty much makes all the content on my external drives worthless without something in the middle to act as a file server. Please tell me this article is wrong.

Those are the only formats supported by Plex on the Shield TV. I know the Shield TV will also support FAT32 but apparently Plex won't. There may be other formats it can handle but I see lots of reports of people having trouble with it.
