FINALLY! A Flagship Android All-in-One Console!
Finally? I've been using this (almost) exact device for years...
Also, he states that to use Google Assistant you'll need to buy the new remote. What he really means is if you want always listening to work you'll need to buy at least one of the always listening devices. Every existing controller and remote has a microphone and for always listening you can buy either the new controller, or the Spot. The new remote will not have it despite what this video claims.
So excited for this update!
I do wish people would talk about the dvr capabilities. For instance using live channels with an usb tuner. Where can we store the shows, does it need to be internal storage or can we used a NAS?
What is not to like? It is smaller and slightly more capable for the same price. They lost the micro-sd slot, but now they throw in the remote. It is not worth an upgrade, but it is a better value for new users.
I'm psyched as a first gen owner. This is the kind of support I like to see. I don't mind buying some new ~$50 peripherals if it improves my existing experience and extends the life of my initial investment.
Question for those of us who already have a Google Home within earshot of their media center and Shield TV. What do you plan on doing with it? Keep it where it is or move it somewhere further away? I want to maximize my usefulness on these things. Right now I mainly use Home for controlling my Lifx bulbs and my Nest in addition to asking it weather and news related stuff.
Mistake at end of video. Says you will have to buy the other remote on older Nvidia to get assistant which is wrong. Assistant will work with either remote.
FINALLY? nVidia attaches pen-drives in CES to add some extra functions and everyone loses their heads!
At around the 4:45 minute mark, he says the 16GB model has a microsd card slot (it does not).
He also says the remote is always listening (controller does, not the remote).
Not the best work by Hardware Canucks.
