How to set up a server with my shield tv and external hard drive?

by marti-kush

Hello Guys, I've managed to transform my shield as a kind of "torrent seedbox" that I can manage from my computer, all the files are downloaded to a 1TB external hard drive plugged to the shield. Now I would like to access theses files from my computer through my local network, I've already tried to set up a ftp server but I can only see the files, I'm unable to read them or to transfer them... Any ideas?

There are many good quality Wi-Fi access points now that also have USB external HD functionality and can be servers. I use this with my Shield and Kodi/SPMC and it's awesome.

You would have to set up via SMB or a Windows PC Share to put files onto the box, and only if that's adopted storage.

I have an external hdd plugged into my pc for storage then just run a plex server on the pc and play everything on the shield via Plex. But then I can also share the hdd via a windows network if I need to.

Mind elaborating on how you set it up as a torrent box? I'm using Plex right now as my server but I have to manually download from my computer with the external HDD and then put he files to the HDD and plug it back into the shield. I'd really like to be able to just download straight to the external HDD when mounted to the shield.
