Mi Box Latest Update: did it fix your issues?

by zopiro

To the many, many users who reported issues with Mi Box, such as frame drops, Wi-Fi drops, Netflix title drops and remote disconnects: did last week's update fix your issues?

I'll give my report:

FRAME DROPS ARE DEFINITELY GONE.

I can now play 1080p video on Netflix and Kodi normally, with crisp image and fluid movement. No issues whatsoever regarding frame drops.

HOWEVER, now I'm part of the Netflix drops team. Titles will start to play, then drop to the "We're having problems playing this title" message. And this happens way too often, even though my network connection is solid.

As for Wi-Fi and remote disconnects, I've never had those.

So, I'm guessing with the Mi Box YMMV. Since the update fixed my frame drops issue, I'd guess I do not have a malfunctioning unit, and I'd stretch that to the assumption that most people don't. It's their system that is somehow faulty.

PS: If the three Mi Boxes you bought for your family work just fine, congratulations. We're really happy for you. But please respect those of us with issues. I know it's a $69.95 device for you guys, but some of us are abroad, and that's a lot of money.

Wow, it fixed the frame drops in 60 FPS videos in YouTube! My biggest problem with the box is now fixed, this is amazing!

Certainly corrected the unusual HDMI-CEC behaviour it had previously (i.e. not changing channel on casting to it, changing channel to mibox on TV startup etc).

Still got the annoying 'can't cast to Netflix' on it but I think that's a Netflix issue as folk say the shield is the same.

I have the notruous Netflix drop issue, but only when the display mode is set to 4K, it doesn't happen at 1080p but then again you don't purchase a 4K streamer to play at 1080p.

Also, there was an OTA update? I don't recall mine getting one, can someone post the zip?

Still having the USB Ethernet adapter issue where I have to reboot the unit every couple of days because it stops seeing the USB. I think I have to get different adapters.

The WatchESPN app still stutters on live tv every 7-10 seconds like clockwork.

Tested this morning with Plex after updating AC3 audio still broke with high bit rate.

DoctorBR

@zopiro, does your TV or Receiver have HDCP 2.2?

defconoi

My issues are gone with YouTube and 60fps so far. BUT the HDMI messes up my tv now, all my inputs are HDMI and I'm not sure how but my Bravia starts up and connects to the sound bar through HDMI. When the mi box is plugged in it connects really oddly, regardless of if it is in use or fully powered on...

My Mi Box is still affected by the Netflix bug too, the update didn't fix anything. I tried to contact @Netflixhelps on Twitter but they never replied back.

Is 10bit fixed?

Did you try doing a factory reset after the update?

I haven't updated yet.

Lol I should probably check this sub often. I just knew that there was an update. Netflix and youtube is fucking up for a while. Hopefully its fixed

The box still goes to sleep despite the settings. This turns off wifi and kills Google Cast functionality. I also have to wait for wifi to reconnect every time I switch to its input. It is a shame they can't even get the basics right.
