I just accidentally discovered this. I know I and others have never been able to exit this app fully without opening another app first. Not sure if this is new or just something we overlooked. Either way, its a nice quality of life feature.

I exit the live channels app on the shield controller when on the homescreen by pressing the play/pause button next to the shield logo. That should do the same thing on the nexus player. I would try that but I have not hooked mine up in a very long time.
I don't have a nexus player or mi box to test this on, but I am hoping its just a Live Channels app thing. Can anyone confirm it works on those devices as well?
yea, on Live Channels I've always noticed it continues to background play if you just hit menu or back.
I use a harmony hub and/or my TV's remote (HDMI-CEC) added an extra button to my close out sequence since i found that I always had to hit Menu -> Stop ... but I guess the Stop button is not present on most OEM remotes.
Since the OS update, simply pressing back on the Mi Box remote closes said app for me..?
Thank you. It's been a huge gripe of mine.
Confirmed working on the Nvidia Shield.
You can also hit the Home button, then Pause and it will exit also.
Confirmed working with my Bluetooth keyboard and Harmony remote! Thanks dude!
Thank you 👍
