Is there a way to have Kodi automatically open up when I turn on my Mi Box? More of a functionality for my wife. If possible it'd be perfect if Kodi would open with IPVanish (vpn) would open & connect, acestream open all at the same time.

I assume that it should work for kodi since SPMC is a fork of it, but you can do:

if not, install SPMC same thing but works with voice search.
There's an app called Launch on Boot, which should start kodi for you. Not sure about the rest.

Navigating Kodi is 10 times more confusing than navigating the Android TV UI to click on a big rectangle to open the app.
I replace the Android TV launcher (leanback launcher) with kodi by using an app called xbmc launcher. You can also place any android app on the home screen of kodi in case you didn't know. Find a good skin and take the time to simplify the hell out of it to make it wife proof.
