Just set up 2nd Gen Shield... I get terrible remote performance. Do you?

by not_that_observant

I've got a first gen shield in the basement and the remote works 100% perfectly. The 2nd gen remote skips/drops/lags constantly if I'm more than 8 feet from the box. The controller behaves much better, but I'm not quite ready to say it's as good as the older one.

Can someone confirm the remote is fine for them before I start tearing up my living room looking for interference?

edit: I paired my Gen 1 remote with the Gen 2 Shield TV and it works fine :( I'm off to file a case with nvidia and potentially order a second Gen 1 remote just in case. It's a needless waste of $50, but the Gen 2 remote doesn't work. Not much else to say unless nvidia think it's broken and they RMA it.

I can't even get mine to pair. The controller paired fine, but the remote seems to be dead. I'll have to go buy some watch batteries to see if that fixes it, but I might need to contact Nvidia otherwise.

Mine's been eh. The remote update dropped halfway through because it disconnected and I had to try again.

Performance has been a bit spotty especially that fucking volume slider.

Did you upgrade the firmware of the remote?

Do the new remotes requite line of site since they have an IR Blaster?

lonaysta

Hi, just wanna ask how does the IR work. From what I read it doesn't seem to have a Power On/Off button. So how does it turn on/off the TV?

I am thinking about getting a Gen 2 for my Nexus Player hooked up with a bedroom TV so I can use one remote instead of two. Not sure if it is capable of doing so...

ThePimpOfSound

I've gotten some weird lag issues too. Pressing the home button on either controller creates a delay where I'm not sure if my press was registered. Kinda frustrating.

Nobody say anything. This could get interesting.
