I set up the remote to control TV power in Shield settings, it tested fine. Now, how do I use the new remote to turn off the TV? Do I long-press some button?
Hit Home button, then long press the back button and select "Sleep Now".
Turning off the TV and changing the volume works great using IR, but the TV won't turn on when waking up the shield. Is this possible? It's annoying having to keep my TV remote out just to turn on the TV.
Turn off the Shield manually (home screen, bottom row, "Power") and it'll send the CEC signal to turn off the TV.
It's easier to just turn off your TV using the TV remote.
If you put the Shield TV to sleep, it will power off your TV or vice versa.
