Gen 2 Controller with Gen 1 Shield

by AskMeAboutPangolins

Anyone else having issue pairing the new controller with the gen 1 shield? It keeps saying there is a device to be paired, and when I tell it to do so (using the old controller), the screen closes but the controller remains unpaired. It does work plugged in though.

Edit with some answers: You can pair through bluetooth, but that only gives you wireless functions. Presumably until the update it doesn't show up as an Nvidia controller, and so you can't use it as a second controller for couch games.

Mine works great, but I had to pair through the bluetooth menu. It does prompt to pair automatically, but doesn't seem to work. Give it another shot. I don't have the new update either.

Please keep us updated after you receive the update- I am interested in this setup as well. In particular I'm curious about how to set up the IR blaster on the new remote- I would like to know if I can control power on an TV and external sound system and if I can have the volume control the external sound system.

I charged mine a bit and then manually added it via settings. It's working now.

Kind of off topic maybe, but I just found you can double tap the volume slider area to play/pause. might be handy so you don't accidentally hit the home button while hunting for the pause button in the dark.

I am as well. So far my best guess is I need the update.
