Welp, that explains a lot. I plugged in the Xbox tuner that works with the Nexus Player into the new Shield and nothing was working. I really hope it's a fast update because I used it as an excuse to upgrade to the shield to my fiance.
Was hoping for USB tuner support with the Nougat update but unfortunately it looks like we'll have to wait a while. Really want to DVR OTA channels and pause live TV.
I don't mind the delay for the new update, but this is very disappointing.
I really wish Sling or DTV now or whatever would support live channels. I don't want a dongle and an antenna, I'm willing to pay! Jeez.
I wonder if Nvidia struck a deal with Tablo to block use of all USB OTA tuners other than the ones that will work with the recently announced Tablo DROID app.
Incredibly frustrating, as there was zero indication that they wouldn't be supported with the nougat update.
