I got the new Shield TV today, and most everything has been working great. I can't, however, seem to select things in the Vue app. I can move directionally, but can't select anything unless I use the original Shield remote or controller. I can control all other apps just fine with the Harmony. Any ideas?
You generally have 2 choices. 1 - re-map buttons in your activity. 2 - get a FLIRC and use that instead. You can do full keyboard mode here and customize it better.
I've seen some people stick with IR/BT for most things and use FLIRC for problem apps as well.
Which remote do you have? I haven't had this issue at all. My problem with the Harmony is that it can't do all the commands a shield remote can do, so it's not very easy to use. Pressing guide on your harmony, for example, will not take you to guide and there's no way to set it up.
I added the Shield TV as a "Windows Computer" in the Harmony app, which causes the Harmony Hub to pair as a Bluetooth keyboard and the default remote mapping works for most functions.
I remapped the "MENU" button on the Harmony to the Media Center button, which acts the same as clicking home on the original remote. To fix the OK button in Amazon Video and HBO Go (sorry, I don't use PS Vue), I mapped a long-click of OK to the "Full Screen" action.
It's kind of a pain having to remember that you have to long-click OK in those two apps and regular-click for everything else (I checked, the "Full Screen" action doesn't work as a direct replacement for OK everywhere else), but it's better than getting up to grab a different remote.
Found the solution: In the Harmony software, tell it it's a Nexus player and connect over Bluetooth the same way. I haven't tested his yet, but found a thread where others said this was the solution. Good luck!
I just got the new shield yesterday and while setting it up last night I ran across this exact issue with the enter/select button not working in Vue.
I have the gen 1 shield as well and can verify that it does work with Vue.
So my conclusion is that Android 5.0 and Vue have an issue with using the harmony remote. (the shield controller works fine)
It's the same in the Amazon app
