You're getting more out of the old one, if you care about sd card, IR sensor, etc.
Go with the 2015 16gb the only thing you don't get is the always on listening for that you need the new controller but if it gaming your into you'll want 2 controllers anway so for $10 more than a new one you get imho the better one with 2 controllers

Get the new one. It's worth it for the improved controller and resale value alone.
Get the last generation if you are getting the 16GB version. Having that SD card slow is lovely.
I'd spend the extra $40, get the latest version and have a full warranty.
If it were a $60+ savings to buy a refurb, that would be another matter.

I ordered both from Amazon and the refurb shipped about a month before expected. At this point I think I'm going to keep the newer model, just because of the accessories. The lack of IR and SD slot had me concerned, but BT seems just as responsive and you can expand via USB.
If you want to use a Harmony remote definitely get the refurb.
software updates might slow down in last gen... for eg last gen still didn't get update 5.0 n lagging by weeks while new gen got even 5.0 n 5.0.1. It can lag by months even though its almost same hardware..
they will eventually stop supporting old gen better to get newer one to avoid risk as 160 is still hefty n dont forget u get remote which is very good
