got new 2017 Shield TV and went to setup Kodi.
when go go to add souces doesn't show my external HD?
I see the drive listed above add sources and can navigate to the files but cannot add it as a Library
any help?

There should be a root directory if you go to settings, I've found my USB there before. Are you going to files, then add files?
Highlight the parent folder with the files/folders you want in your library then press X on your controller to bring up to context menu. Set the file content to movies or whatever you have in the folder.
