Nvidia Shield Gamestream lag...

by microload

Hey all,

I recently purchased an nvidia shield. Whenever I run gamestream, I get horrendous lag. Makes the game unplayable. It will run smoothly for about 15 seconds before it starts getting very jittery. I was thinking about directly connecting my shield to my router via ethernet cord. Would this help with the lag? Or is there another solution?

yes that would definitely help the lag. Purchasing a better wifi router would also help the lag.

I've found that it really is best if at least one device is connected via Ethernet and the other with a decent wifi signal. If you can manage this then you shouldn't be having any sort of issues with gamestream.

You're seeing congestion, packet loss, and/or out of order packets. Your wifi network may be overlapping with other wireless networks, there's interference with other wifi devices on your own network, or distances and the wireless spec in use are not able to sustain data rates consistently.

Wired is always best.

I would definitely check the configuration first and you haven't told us which equipment you use, so don't wait for good tips here.

Check your network config first, also what version of nvidia geforce experience are you streaming with on your PC? I found downgrading to version 2.X worked a lot better for me in terms of latency.
