Shield TV IR Setup

So, loving my shield TV so far.

My current TV is It only, and browsing through the menu I went in and set up IR for the TV. It worked -- changed the volume and all that during the setup. But the prompts made it sound like it should control my TV power too via IR, MD I am not seeing that happen.

Anyone?

I couldn't get TV power to work with IR either. I set the power control to CEC TV on/off. When you put the shield to sleep the TV goes off and back on when the shield wakes up. I also have volume Controll set up with my sound bar through IR. My sound bar has an auto sleep mode, but changing the volume on the shield remote wakes it up. So I use the shield remote to control everything.

Yea, TV doesn't have CEC so that doesn't work. Figured that the It setup would make it work, but after some research my TV doesn't have a separate ON or OFF command, just a power toggle. So maybe the Shield doesn't try to keep track...
