Shield 2nd gen remote - Wireless interference or defective?

I got my 2nd gen shield on Tuesday. Everything is working fine except the remote, which is what I mainly want to use. Sometimes I will pick it up to pause something and it will not respond for up to 5 seconds. Other times when I am scrolling through something on an app or the main screen, it stops responding to the button presses and after 1-2 seconds it'll respond and rapidly skip forward the number of times I pressed the button while it was not responding.

The controller is fine. I have experienced no problems with it.

Has anyone had similar problems with the remote? I am not sure if it is a wireless interference problem in my house or if the remote is just defective.

I also have a Mi Box and the remote on that has never given me any problems.

There was an update for the Shield 2nd gen this week concerning remote problems. Might want to look into that first :)

This started happening to my remote after I updated to v1.0.3.

Is remote firmware v1.03. if not update it.

My remote is completely unusable. I have tried many fixes and they only work for a brief moment and it stops working again. I am fully updated. Amazon is shipping me a replacement so I am hoping that works out better.

I've got the same issue. My gen 1 remote works fine with the gen2 box though.

I have exactly same issue with gen 2. everything is updated to latest version.

I believe remote is using bluetooth so I dont think wifi interference can cause issues here.

remote updated to 1.03 still unresponsive, then a flurry of responses.

any third party remotes I could get till they fix this issue?
