PSA SHIELD TV 2015 Owners - The Shield Hub Isn't Going Away For Us with the 5.0 Update

I have seen some conflicting information/conclusions tossed around. The new 2017 SHIELD does not have a SHIELD Hub (so Netflix and Amazon both appear with all of your other apps). However, this will not be the case for 2015 owners. We will still have the SHIELD Hub featured prominently at the top. Geforce Now and Gamestream will eventually be bundled into the new NVIDIA Games app as the app rolls out. The SHIELD Hub will thus have 3 items - Netflix, Amazon, and NVIDIA Games. I was told that this is a result of pre-existing contracts (i.e. Netflix) and I am willing to bet Amazon being featured alongside Netflix on the 2015 model was a compromise that was made to get them on board finally.

This information comes from Chris Daniels (SHIELD product manager) during a meeting with a handful of users/enthusiasts/bloggers.

Furthermore, it wasn't quite clear if the "apps" row would be moved above the "games" row, like on the 2017 model. He did indicate that gamestream games will appear in the "games" row.

I just disable notifications for the Nvidia customizations app and that removes the hub. You might lose game streaming though, I'm not sure as I don't use that anyway.

{edited} I stand corrected. no more oem row for everyone! something was messed up on my beta build but I did a reset and no more oem row.

That's a bummer... Strangely one of the only things that bothers me about the layout is Netflix not being grouped with the other apps and now it sounds like it's getting more disjointed. I wish there was a way to add more apps to the hub section almost like a frequently used area.

Hey, if this is what it took to get Amazon on board, who the heck cares? It's no more annoying than having that special "Netflix" button on your TV remote.

This is rather infuriating. The Nvidia apps being up there is annoying enough, but the Netflix app being separated from the rest of my video streaming apps seriously frustrates me every time I hit the home button.

This shouldn't bother me. It's not like I have to work hard to get to Amazon right? It should be like it always is with Amazon to the left of Netflix if I understand this.

That doesn't sound right. It makes zero sense for them to be inconsistent between the 2015 and 2017 models with the home launcher.
