Getting ready to buy my first streaming box ever. Really like a wired connection but on a budget.
The mi box would work but sure wish it had an Ethernet port!

I bought this thing: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00484IEJS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_uYrIybKSN8E92
Works well. Just plug it.
A xiaomi rep confirmed their official adaptor works with the mi box

Yea wish mine did too, I have it 1ft from a wifi router =(
I'm fanatical about using wired whenever possible, but got the MiBox3 anyway. I don't have any problems with connection speed even streaming 4k. I have it on 802.11ac through one wall, and it generally does not generally show "excellent" signal strength, just 4 out of 5 bars. But not a problem. Try it on wifi and see if the adapter is necessary, or if it impacts your network too much.
I bought a USB to Ethernet adapter and it works fine.
I think the reason there's no ethernet port is because it might cause problems for the built in Chromecast feature. I hooked my mibox to a USB hub with ethernet port, casting only works for YouTube, rest don't work.
