ShieldTV Gen 2 says my USB drive is slow?

I just received my ShieldTV and went to set up my adoptable storage and I get a message saying my drive is slow and that I should consider upgrading to USB 3.0. The thing is my drive is USB 3.0 and it is supposed to be fast. Here is the exact one that I purchased.

I'm hoping someone can tell me what's going on!

I had the exact same issue with that very drive. It kept saying it was safely ejected. I ended up returning the drive because I bought it specifically for the Shield.

Does anyone know which USB 3.0 drives work with gen2?

I kept getting this with a thumb drive. I switched to a hard drive and didn't see the message again.

I bought the Shield Pro to avoid situations like this.

it looks like a problem with the new firmware. my hard disk was just fine with the old ones, after I updated I got the message, but actually everything is as fast as it used to be

I have two of the standard 2017 Nvidia Shields. One gives me this message - the other doesn't. I swapped the thumb drives around and the problem followed the thumb drive.
