Have a ShieldTV Gen1 updated to 5.0.2. I've been trying to sideload the new HGTV and FoodNetwork apps (with AndroidTV) but keep getting errors when trying to start the apps. Tried multiple sites but haven't been able to get the apk from google itself. I don't have a US tied google account to my Shield. I know the apps are live since I've installed them from Google (with a different account) to a MI box with no issues. Hopefully someone has some thoughts or the apk itself!
I'm pretty sure those apps are on the play store.
I think there is a setting on the shield you need to change to allow side loaded apps.
I'll clarify my post more. I don't have the US appstore, so I can't dl it from the playstore. I have unknown sources allowed, no issues sideloading other apps. I'm trying to dl the most recent versions from sites but none work on my Shield.
I set up a MiBox and made a US account. That installed no problem and ran with no issues.
So either it's my sources for the apk or my Shield. I wanted to see if anyone has had this issue.
Not available on the Canadian appstore.
