Nexus player stability

I've begun having random issues with both of my Nexus players in the last couple weeks. Casting is very hit or miss, sometimes it won't show up on my phone as a cast device, other times screen will just go black when I cast a video.

Netflix and plex have started randomly quitting. It doesn't give a force close dialog, simply closes and loads the launcher. It's almost like there is a memory leak issue because the suggestion bar is reloaded too implying the launcher was purged from ram. Sometimes Netflix will play for a while with no issues, others times less than 5 minutes will play.

Just today the plex user data seemed to have been erased and had to sign in to my account again.

System and apps are up to date.

Update 2/3/17: it's only been getting worse. The remote has started becoming unpaired. Going to pick up a Mi Box this week.

I get the same behaviour with Netflix suddenly quitting. Plex keeps giving errors that it's losing connection to the server. Unfortunately I have no solutions for you.

This is very similar what I have been experiencing. I bought the Nvidia Shield to fix my issue.

My remote died. I thought it was batteries at first so I put in new ones. Still didnt work so I bought a different brand... Still nothing. With the last batteries it tried, when I tried to pair it I held the buttons down for a long time and the remote actually started getting warm. So its getting power, but dead. Not worth paying for a replacement.

I put an nvidia shield in my living room, allowing me to hookup my nexus player in that bedroom. Lately the remote stops working and blinks, but not in that same pattern as in pairing mode. If I unpair and repair it, it works for a few hours to a day but then repeats the problem. I've replaced batteries so that isn't the issue. I'm thinking about just sucking it up and getting either a mi box or another shield tv for the bedroom as well.

I'm having the same issues. I just opted in to the 7.1.2 beta to see if it resolves the errors.
