Thanks for the info! Looking forward to 7.0 and hoping they can get it out the door quicker than the ETA.
This thread, like a lot about the Mi Box, got a bit side track with people who claim to hate the box for whatever reason. I just wanted to say a few things (mentioned and not mentioned here).
The box had at least 3 updates so far and at least 2 had fixes by Xiaomi. The first I don't know. It happened when I turned it on the first time. Maybe it was a Google security patch only or maybe Xiaomi added to it.
Streaming doesn't take much power, gaming does. This is a streaming box with more than enough power to do that. Shield is for something this box isn't for, gaming.
Many people have zero issues with their Mi Box, which means there is a variable causing issues. It isn't faulty hardware. Generally it is their internet, but it can sometimes be other apps and such not playing nice. If it is an app, than Xiaomi has to hunt which one and figure out where it is conflicting. That takes time, but from #1, they do find and fix the issues. Relatively fast too considering they have to hunt for the cause.
It's a huge international corporation, it has dedicated people on the US products obviously. This isn't a fly by night company. (To address, "but they lost the former Google Exec" story. Google didn't go under when he left them and Xiaomi isn't going under now. Corporations have large VPs come and go, they headhunt each other).
Android 7 will be here. This isn't Apple with one hardware configuration and one company who owns it all. If you ever used Android than you know there is no mass update, not even within a manufacturer. If 7 comes out in March/April it will still be quicker than my Samsung update. It's the nature of the beast with Android.
Hope this helps those who are unsure of the Mi Box because a few people who claim its bad for poorly supported reasons.
Edit I sent you, Koshergoy, a message here about some suggestions to pass on to Xiaomi. Hopefully you got the message, and if you could send it to your contact that would be great. Thanks.
Sucks that it will take that long. Hopefully it's bug free on release because I don't want to wait another 2 months for it to be fixed
I really want to know if the frame drop issues will be resolved.
My other big issue is CEC anyways switching my input even if I'm not using the device.
So much for the early Q1 projection they gave back in November...
No major issues for me in my miBox, my only issue is Netflix not playing on my 5.1 surround. Playing a test video on MiBox plays on my 5.1 surround. I think the issue here is Netflix sound compatability?
Native netflix app on my TV plays 5.1 surround.
Excited about the update, and more so to finally get some decent evidence that its actually happening. My Mibox has been near perfect with the exception of Youtube videos at 60fps have audio/video skipping and delays.
Hi kosher, I am still unable to view 4k 60fps on youtube. I have a HDCP 2.2 tv (vizio du53-58). 4K 30 works but any video in 4k 60 will only be displayed in 1080p 60fps.
Can you please confirm this bug ? Thanks for your input.
66666666老哥稳 他们专门有一个组来作海外这块儿的更新么?还是只是某个组兼职一下?
Hey can your private contact get release notes for the patch that just was released a couple days ago? It's over 500 megs and so far the only thing is it gave me Sling TV free for a day. There has to be something else to it.
