Preferably working with Kodi/SPMC long press, left, right, volume, pause play mainly, a microphone wouldn't be bad but not a deciding factor. Battery life and nice design is however.

Not worth it to lose out on Voice IMO (I believe you will if you're not using the stock remote). I'd use the stock remote and assign buttons in Kodi. For instance, right and left = fastforward, up = volume up, down = volume down, select = play/pause.
I ordered a Harmony Smart Control from Amazon (de I think) to control my devices. It works perfectly and it's able to power on TV and receiver + set them to proper inputs.
What device are you using? That question should be answered first so you get the best recommendations.
