I can't seem to get any 5.1 surround sound using the Netflix app, while with Kodi it works fine.

Thanks, I read some more about it and indeed found DD+ can't go over SPDIF. Time to buy a new receiver I guess
Netflix streams 5.1 with DD+, it's not possible to get DD+ via SPDIF
