Sideloading NBC Sports (FireTV version) on Mi Box

by SugarKane82

Is this even remotely possible? I know that I can just cast NBC to the mi box from my phone, but I'd love to have a native app on the Mi Box.

I had an Amazon Fire TV stick and I was able to sideload any android app, but is the opposite true for the Mi Box (android tv)?

If you upload the fire tv apk, I can remove the Amazon store in-app checks. It works with ~ a 50% success rate.

Best option I've found is to use the NBC sports live extra plugin with Kodi. UI isn't as good but you can filter by the sports you're interested in

I keep meaning to do this and find out for myself. I'll plug my Fire TV in and find out tonight or tomorrow.

PlayStation Vue has live NBC Sports channel, and depending on your location it has the local NBC channel. You can also DVR everything. That's between $30 and $40 a month. Sling probably has NBC Sports as well for a monthly fee, no DVR.. If you have cable already, it might be worth the switch and you can use the Mi Box for both services. Save a ton of money.

It's surprising that NBC doesn't have the sports app on Android TV. Not sure what they are thinking...

The Fire TV apps will not work on Android TV without an Amazon app store installed, which I'm not messing with.

I sideloaded the phone version and then used another app to fix the orientation. You need to use a mouse to control it but it works well
