For fellow nerds out there thinking about this: It's not as gimmicky and hokey as you'd think. (Though, I prefer Kodi with a router-attached hard drive because nerd reasons.)
I've been participating in a test for several weeks and don't hate it. Works pretty well with my Echo Dot - even at high volumes.
Could be a TV game changer for people who are differently abled. Or, in my case, when you're in bed but can't be bothered to reach for a remote as you're falling asleep.
Note for those complaining about Amazon from someone who also likes to complain about Amazon: $30 for my refurbed Dot that can control my lighting, start my kettle in the morning, play all the music/podcasts/radio/news/dumb games, find my phone, control bluetooth speakers
and
control my TV? Sign my butt up for another.
