What's the best Android TV box also any news on new boxes for 2017
Low Price: Mi Box for $70
High Price: Nvidia Shield for $200/$300
That's all there is really at this time.
At what price point?
The nvidia shield tv is generally considered the best one in terms of capabilities, but may be overkill for you.
I think at most we'll see one other Android TV device, maybe a new Nexus Player. The new Shield TV just came out, and Dish has some weird box that runs Android TV.
(If you were asking about those janky Chinese boxes that run Android, then this is the wrong subreddit for that)

Just curious, are there any Android TV ROMS, and if so are there any cheap Mi-like boxes or sticks (<$70) that can be unlocked and flashed with such a custom ROM?
Aside from the RPi 3 hack. Maybe difficult to pair a remote and get it all working?
SHIELD TV. Period. I like the MiBox's remote, but I hear it's got performance problems with operating at 4K. Probably doesn't help that it's WiFi only.
Shield Console if you have the money. MiBox if you don't.
