I'm looking forward to the Nougat update because the update prior to the latest update (the 530mb sling promo) broke the following things for me:
Netflix (can't play anything without it throwing an error code and refusing to play)
Optimized screen casting from my phone to HBOGo, Showtime Anytime and probably other TV apps.
My guess is that the update broke the particular version of HDMI encryption that the TV I have a Mi Box connected to wants to use, something that all of those services depend on.
Since I am a Comcast customer, optimized screen casting from my phone is the only way to play high quality video through the various cable TV network's own apps. Comcast blocks logins for all such Android TV apps, but allows Optimized screen casting of the highest quality video from the Android phone versions of those apps.
I got a feeling Trump is going to ruin relations with China so much that Xiaomi is going to pull out of the U.S. market completely leaving us all high and dry.
It damn well should, as nougat brings HDR support and it was advertised to be able to do HDR.
But who knows at this point...
